Spoilers Below |
The Selection by Kiera Cass,
Team Maxon!
If you watch the Bachelor then you certainly have to read this drama filled book!
No hate, no sarcasm; I loved this dystopian filled Romance.
Now America.... you'll get used to the name (hopefully) I really don't like to say this but parents seriously PICK BETTER NAMES FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR CHILDREN'S LIVES!!!!
I like my name that because its not common, but naming your child America, Yes that's an uncommon name, BUT A COUNTRY!!! and a famous one at that... (at least she'll find her name on a keychain)
anyway, sorry just needed to make things clear..
The publisher really did a fantastic job on the book cover; BEAUTIFUL
dystopian feel - whoa,
So the girl is America and she is a caste 5 meaning that, that caste have to be creative, performing wise.. America is a singer (guess what her last name is...) her father is an artist, and so on...
The castes have 8 levels
The One being the king, queen, prince
The Two being the politicians and lawyers
The Three being the actors, atress, models publishing, media
The Four being the teachers, Doctors (I think)
The Five being Creative and Performing Arts
The Six being labourers, servants, factory workers
The Seven and Eight- Homeless
one word -Wow
and the curfew thing, What?? It's your freedom they are taking away from you
The Selection is a chance for girls being 16-25 yrs old to compete in a game to win Maxon's Heart (He won mine!)
This book isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it sure is mine! I loved the world, it was simple enough to read and had a lot of drama, like damn America, he said he wants to be with you, but you still mourn Aspen... (sigh)
Aspen on the other hand... I don't hate him, I could see good qualities about the bloke, but his Pride was the downfall.. like c'mon, you tell America to join the Selection so she could be happy, but then you don't want her to be with Maxon... Jeez make up your mind, your as bad as America at decision making
I love America's maids, they are so cute and I also loved her sister, May. The part when Maxon strikes a deal with America, too see if May cries when she eats the sweet tarts were so cute. I just Love Maxon!
